Sport Club 1924, the
oldest soccer club in Michigan, was founded by German immigrants who
wished to participate and compete in various sports. It is one of
the most prestigious clubs, capturing numerous Michigan State Soccer
Championships throughout the years. Membership in access of over 500
people was not uncommon at the peak of our existence. During the
1990’s Sport Club 1924 shrank to a smaller club that needed a home
field and place to play. The Austrian Society of Detroit told the
Sport Club 1924 that we may use the soccer field and facilities at
Austrian park as our field under the condition that we become paying
members, help a few times a year with events and functions, or when
there may be help at the park. It was agreed, and since the 1990’s
we are now know as Austrian Sport Club 1924. You pay Austrian Sport Club 1924 dues as well as Austrian Society of Detroit dues every year. Austrian Sport Club 1924 has a club house that is located at Austrian Park (26 mile and Hayes rd.), and was renovated by our members in 2007 and is a place to gather after games, practices or just meet and talk of past and current events. www.sportclub1924.com Austrian Sport Club 1924 member benefits: • Private game/practice field. • Scrimmage games every Monday and Thursday, spring to fall. • Years of soccer experience at hand. • Club picnic/events. • Private Clubhouse.
