Another beautiful
July 13th evening at the Austrian Sport Club field! Or,
at least is was great for the Roman FC squad as they defeated the
Austrian Sport Club UV 40 with a whopping 14 to 1. The match started
out well with the Sportster’s controlling the ball and actually
missing a few shots. Russ Bunger finally connected on a nice pass
from Bill Bayer. That was the last time they saw the net. Roman FC
scored their first goal from a breakaway. This was followed by a
nice header goal, which was followed by another break away, and so
on. The score at the half was 7 to 1. Spirits were actually high
going into the second half, but that was because everyone thought
“how bad can it get?” Well, it did get worse as the second half was
all Roman FC. One player made the difference for the Romans as he
easily swept by the Sport Club mid and backfield to either set up
his teammates or score himself. Shock and Awe was the way one UV’r
described the match.
