Due
to the bad weather this spring, this is only the second game of the
season. The Spartans started quickly getting several passes behind
the Sport Club defense, which they were able to turn into two quick
goals. The Sportclubbers eventually settled the ball and began
working the wings against the Spartans, which finally allowed a
quick pass from Mike Fabbri to Rolando Vata who didn't miss for the
2-1 score. The attack continued in the first half as Mike Fabbri
missed an open net off his left foot to tie, Ed Monley missed the
net with a header off a corner kick, and both Ed and Bryan Crowe hit
the cross bar and goalpost off of chances in the 6 yard box. The
Spartans were tiring in the second half and could not sustain much
of an attack and were really just trying to clear the ball away as
best they could. The Fabbri - Vata combo worked again allowing
Rolando his second goal and a 2-2 score. Sport Club was unable to
gain he lead despite several attacks and opportunities they just
didn't finish, ended the game 2-2. "Despite the bad start, we played
very well and were able to control most of the play after the first
10 minutes" Chris Stockman said. "We hit 4 goal posts and the cross
bar, the Spartan keeper should kiss the posts as they saved him many
times. We should have won 5-2, easily.
