SC 24 O-40 (0)  vs.  FSC (2)  Cup game

The SC 1924 UV (Sport Club over 40 Men's) team opened with a Founders' Cup loss to the FSC Falcons 2-0. The match was held at the Visteon plant near Plymouth on Thursday, May 5th. The grass was long and the pitch soft, but not wet.

The Falcons scored their first goal within 10 minutes of the first half taking advantage of a newer Sport Club team. But the Sportster's pulled it together by tightening up the middle and using the backfield to move the ball around, then forward, taking advantage of the Falcons lower numbers. Several excellent attacks were mounted but nothing connected with the net.

The second half opened with a strong attack by the Sport Club, but again, nothing in the net. Unable to move up the middle, the Falcons started to work on the outsides but were repelled by the defense and several great plays by keeper Patrick Weekhout. Eventually, they connected upping the score to 2-0, which is where the score remained.

The loss was disappointing but with many new faces on the squad, the sentiment was that we played well. Patrick Weekhout was in goal and had a standout performance making many saves and repelling several breakaways.

The next match is Wednesday, May 11th, 8pm at Ultimate Soccer Arena.
