the rain stayed away for great conditions for a game today. Sport Club was looking to reverse their fortunes from the previous league outings by grabbing a win against Romeo in Cup competition. The Raiders had no subs but did not let that deter them in going for the win. They had many chances against the sport clubbers defense, but couldn't put one home. Rolando Vata placed a lead pass for Mike Fabbri to run onto, and he got to the 18 yard line, stopped and reversed fields to Dave Fleischer who placed a left foot boot for the 1-0 lead. No change in strategy as the SC1924 side was looking to move into the second round of competition. A play down the right side led to Mike Vigh with the ball in the corner, and he placed a low cross through the goal mouth that Bryan Crowe cooly placed in the net. The game ended 2-0 in favor of SC1924, but it was definiely a close match. "They seemed to have quite a few chances on goal today, more than I would have liked but we'll take the win anyway we can get it. We need to be better on defense going through the season, but we always get better as we move through the season", Team Manager Chris Stockman said. e.
