SC 1924 A
(3) vs.
Ferndale Spartans (0)

The game today was switched to the comfortable indoors of
Ultimate Soccer arenas due to bad weather leading up to this
weekend. The felid was much larger than what they are used to at
Austrian Park, but they wouldn't let that deter them from the win.
The Austrian side controlled the ball from the beginning using the
field to their advantage to pass and keep the Spartans from
attacking. At 20 minutes, Mike Vigh took a pass from Mike Fabbri,
dribbled to the center and took a shot from behind a screen that the
keeper had no chance at, 1-0. The Spartans decided to fight back,
and received a PK from an unintentional handball in the box. The
player placed it wide as the Sport Club keeper guessed correctly and
may have still had a chance. The second half was offense and keeper
defense, both on the part of the Sport Club side. Curtis Reid took a
pass up the left wing, and placed a fantastic cross through the box
where Mike Fabbri was coming through with the header for the 2-0
goal. Another quick pass exchange, this time between Mike Vigh and
Mark Kurzer ended with Kurzer blasting a shot past the
Ferndale keeper for the 3-0 lead. The Spartans had a couple of
great opportunities in the second half, both thwarted by Don
Bleuenstein with acrobatic saves to preserve his own shutout. The
games ended 3-0. "This was the best effort I have seen this season,
considering I missed last weeks' 5-2 win. We passed well, and used
the space to our advantage, a perfect game" Team Manager Chris
Stockman said.
