The match
started out a bit stormy as the Sportsters’s took a while to get
their game on. The Anchors had several breakaways early in the
first half but were denied by Sportster goalie Patrick Weekhout.
After some strong verbal encouragement from manager Randy Bart,
the defense got it together and the match moved to the opponents
side. ASC rushed the goal several times but the first goal game
from outside the eighteen on a shot from Randy Bart that bounced
passed the opposing goalie. Later, it would be Joe Arwady
tricking the goalie on another penalty shot to put the score at
2-0 going into the break. ASC came out strong in the second
half making many nice passes and crosses. Eventually, Jessie
Travino was able to connect with a nice header on a cross from
Joe Arwady making the score 3-0. Anchor Bay drew a penalty and
closed the shot with a goal making the game 3-1. One Sportster
commented, It wouldn’t be a game unless Joe got a penalty shot.
The next game is on Wed. June 24 against BESA at 7pm. The
field is yet to be determined.
