SC 1924 A (3) v.s. Eastside FC (2)

Sport Club is looking to keep its recent winning streak going after the big cup win last week, by playing the third place team in the standings. Neither team seemed interested in taking the advantage early, but the Eastsiders got a break and the official awarded them a penalty. Roberto Pellini, who was plying in place of the injured Don Bleuenstein, made a fake and then a fantastic save on the shooter. With 5 minutes left in the half, Frank Gablowski placed a cross to the far side of the box, and it was Ed Monley hitting the back of the net for the half time lead 1-0.

The second half started slowly for the Sport Clubbers as another penalty was awarded to Eastside and this time they didn't miss. After an additional 10 minutes, the Eastside squad put together some spectacular middle play and passes to get a man free for the 2-1 lead. SportClub was not going to be pushed off their streak, as Curtis Reid passed the ball into the center for Dave Fleischer to tie it at 2. After 7 minutes, MIke Fabbri passed to a streaking Rolando Vata who gave the SportClub side the lead again. And that is how it ended, SportClub 3 Eastside FC 2.  "We were playing very sluggish today, slow to attack the ball, and I think hungover from our Cup victory, " Team Manager Chris Stockman said. "Once we were down 2-1, we just began finishing everything. We didn't give up on the ball, and I think that is what kept us in the game. We will lose a few players next week to yellow card accumulations, but hopefully everyone will step up in their place." Next game is June 20, 11:00am at Austrian Park against FSC Mustangs.
