SC 1924 A
(1) v.s.
Berkley Bulldogs
(0)
Hurley Field was the next stop for the SC A
squad. Berkley Bulldogs were always a good game and this day would
be no exception. The game started out with SC making good passes and
runs to the Bulldogs end but the Bulldogs would storm right back
with counter attack after counter attack. the Bulldogs forwards
pushed deep into the corner and would send a cross through the goal
mouth as a slipping SC goalie would miss his chance and the ball
would be knocked into the post and be denied entry into the goal.
Close call. The half would end with no goals and a pumped up SC team
ready to go for the second half. The second part of the game would
see the bulldogs press into the SC zone even more with the SC
golie,Don Bleuenstein making save after save. Then midway through
the second half Mike Fabbri would get a through ball and off to the
bulldogs end he went, beating the defender with his speed and
putting the ball away for a SC 1-0 lead. Minutes later Mike Fabbri
would send Dave Fleischer on a run into the Bulldogs end and Dave
would enter the 18 yard box and hit the outside of the net. The game
was getting edgy as players got into each others faces over
bad tackles and loose tempers. The bulldogs pressed even harder but
the SC defense kept the Bulldogs on a short leash and the game would
end 1-0. Having 2 wins in a row is a good feeling. The next game is May
23, against Anchor bay at Croatia Park.
