O-30 A-team started the 2009 season against the drop down team from the 2nd division Oakland Mongrels. ASC 24 defense held strong thru most of the 1st half until a Mongrel beat 2 ASC 24 defenders and put the ball to the far corner away from goalie Don Bleuenstein. The second half gave ASC 24 more solid defense. it was a back and forth game with few shots exchanged. A very close break came from a direct kick taken by Mark Stahlberger about 20 yards out that pinballed through the Mongrels defense and ended up directly in front of Bryan Crowe who from 5 yards out missed the goal, Sport Club awed with shock and the Mongrels cheered with excitement from the miss. As Bryan jogged back to mid field he could only shake his head is dismay. New player Rolando Vata made his club debut as a big body that will not be ignored on the field. The return of Mark Kurzer at midfield was a welcome site. Next game is against FK Vader at Staro Salo field on 26 mile road. April 26 at 10:00.
